Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community situated in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" location. This West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is an extensive area that extends from Lachine until the west. The West Island is frequently referred to as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was not long. Brugel lived in Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. She initially wanted to be an actor, however, after a rapid expansion, she and her partner weren't able to dance with her. A Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. When I surpassed any male partner then I slowed down. Former dancers often turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel, it was a suggestion from her high school teacher in drama. A teacher suggested that she try out for a school production. The student tried it out, and ended up playing the lead of Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program which she graduated with the Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she has performed in more than 60 shows, both on big screens and smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was the one of Rita (pictured below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few occasions in the first season of The Handmaid's Tale. The only Canadian participant.
